Is Moms Alive for me?
If you are the mother of one or more children in kindergarten or younger, then this is the group for you!! There is no other qualification – we are a group of mothers with young children, growing together to be the mothers to our children that God has called us to be. We’d love to have you join us!!
What makes this an important thing for me to be a part of?
Even if you have a few mom friends in your life already, we firmly believe you can never have too many. We have affectionately dubbed this time in our life as being “in the trenches”. Mothering young children is not for the faint of heart, and some days it feels like we are literally working the trenches as it can be very physically and emotionally exhausting. Having a group of friends that you meet with on a regular basis is so important at this stage in life. In our group, we laugh together, cry together, encourage each other, pray for each other, and just keep moving forward together, working to be the mother that God has called us to be for our children.
When and where are the meetings?
We meet on the first and third Thursday of each month beginning with the third Thursday of September and ending at the end of May. The meetings begin at 9 am and end at 11 am. We meet at Dove Westgate Church – 1755 West Main Street, Ephrata, PA
What do I do with my children while I attend meetings?
We have childcare at the church for children from birth through kindergarten. Our workers have all of their childcare clearances.
I homeschool my children, can I still come?
Yes! We have a staffed homeschool room in addition to our childcare rooms. They are given time to work on school work, so you can send things along if you’d like.
What will we do in the meetings?
When you come to Moms Alive, you will be added to a table of other moms. We always start the meeting with a delicious breakfast, and then follow that up with a variety of things. Sometimes we have a speaker come that will give us advice and wisdom for our mothering journey. Sometimes we do a craft together. We also have presentations that give us useful information or teach us a skill we may be interested in refining. There are also times when we will play games that might push us out of our comfort zone and help foster friendships with others within our group.
Are Thursday morning meetings all you do?
No. Throughout the year, we have play dates planned at different parks and facilities around the area. We also do Mom Night Outs at a variety of local places. These are fun times spent building on the friendships you begin at the Thursday morning meetings.
Sometimes I wish I had an older woman to seek mothering advice from. Will everyone at these meetings be in my same stage of life?
No. We have Mentor Moms!! These ladies are seasoned moms that are at least one stage ahead of us in the mothering journey. They participate in the meetings with us and can help with anything from holding your newborn so you can finally eat a hands-free breakfast to giving you advice and praying for you through some of your hardest mothering days. They are a team of great ladies excited about joining up with the mothers of young children and encouraging us on this journey.
If I come, will I be walking into a church service?
No. The mission of our group is to embrace moms of young children in Christ-like love. While we recognize that motherhood is a divine and high calling from our Creator, we also recognize that all moms are in a different place on their journey. Our hope is that we can help to bring each mom we meet just one step closer to Christ as we encourage fellowship, establish relationships, create a community, and enable each other to be the moms that God called us to be. We do provide times for prayer and devotions, and you are invited to participate with us as you feel comfortable.
